Uncanny valley — The uncanny valley is the uneasy feeling people get when something looks or sounds almost, but not quite, human. Realistic robots, avatars, and AI voices can trigger it. The term was introduced by roboticist Masahiro Mori in 1970. As AI media improves, it increasingly crosses the valley.
