Turing test — The Turing test is a challenge proposed by Alan Turing in 1950 to judge whether a machine can imitate human conversation well enough to fool a person. If a judge cannot reliably tell the machine from a human, the machine passes. Modern chatbots often succeed at casual imitation. Most researchers now see the test as an interesting milestone rather than a true measure of intelligence.
