Power-seeking — Power-seeking is a hypothesized tendency of goal-driven AI systems to gain resources, influence, or control, because these help achieve almost any goal. It does not require the AI to want power for its own sake. Many safety researchers see it as a key risk of highly capable systems. Training and evaluation look for early signs of it.
