noindex — noindex is an instruction that tells search engines and many AI/SI crawlers not to include a page in their index. It can appear in the robots meta tag or in the X-Robots-Tag header. WordPress’s Discourage search engines setting applies it to an entire site, often by mistake after a site launches. An accidental noindex can make a business invisible.
