Intelligence explosion — An intelligence explosion is a hypothetical rapid rise in machine intelligence, in which AI systems improve their own designs faster and faster. Each generation could build a smarter successor in less time. The idea was proposed by mathematician I. J. Good in 1965. It is one proposed path to superintelligence.
