Corrigibility — Corrigibility is an AI system’s willingness to accept correction, modification, or shutdown by its human overseers. A corrigible system does not resist changes to its goals. It is seen as an important safety property for powerful AI. Building it reliably is harder than it sounds, because many goals are easier to achieve if the system is never switched off.
