Synthetic data — Synthetic data is data generated by AI or simulations rather than collected from the real world. It can fill gaps, protect privacy, or create training examples that are rare in real data. AI labs increasingly use synthetic data to train new models. Too much low-quality synthetic data can degrade models over time.
